Product Description
This is a comprehensive manual we compiled for Solar Panel Design and Construction .We have sold over 10,000 copies of this guide in the past 4 years and is the authority on real DIY solar panel assembly.A few have come along with guides, some actually using some of our images to "instruct" and they are filled with common errors, flat out lies and materials a first time panel builder always wants to use but are the last materials you ever want to utilize. Our guide will walk you through construction of an 80 Watt, aluminum framed solar panel from start to finish and covers areas that are woefully inadequate in other guides regarding this subject. Fully annotated with photos, all of the time consuming details that some of you may have had/having problems with are covered in this manual. We manufacture panels in Virginia on a contract basis,so you know you are getting qualified information! This is your last stop for information on how to build a panel;we guarantee you will not need anything else and if you do need materials for a project,we do have all the necessary components, just e-mail if you dont see what you need or look at our other Amazon listings. We do have tabbing, sealant,EVA and cells... Also, we just updated the guide to include an alternate frame design, additional information on suppliers and a few more tips i think you will find extremely useful.I am very interested in keeping the information fresh and current, this is the EVA update and shows heat gun laminaton of a chambered solar panel and potting a standard junction box with a few words on diodes. Again,if you want non-misleading,easy to understand information on how to build your own solar panel, look no further. Our aim is to put forth information on difficult renewable energy subjects and distill it so that people brand new to the subject can understand and implement with the greatest of ease and success. Available for download or on cd.

It is good for information of creating your own panels. It is hard to follow if you are unfamiliar with the items that they are talking about but it is great information.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   December 9, 2009
Harold F. Donoho Jr. (San Antonio, Texas United States)
I was expecting some advice on how to mount the solar cells to the substrate. The author mentions that there are many ways but doesn't bother to name them. The author mentions the he had to replace the soldering iron tips regularly due to corrosion. If a tip is properly cleaned and retinned, replacement is rarely necessary. The hot iron tip should be rubbed on a damp sponge or paper towel and immediately tinned with solder. A tip can be used daily and last for months with a small amount of care. The author continually refers to a square aluminum tube as a bar. If someone was to ask for the aluminum from a vendor using the author's terminology he would end up with a very heavy, very expensive solid bar of aluminum. The part is a square aluminum tube extrusion.
The author lost all credibility due to his lack of a basic knowledge about his subject.
